Definition
The Simple Past tense describes completed actions, events, or conditions that happened at a specific time in the past.
Formula
Subject + past form of verb (regular: add -ed; irregular: memorize forms)
Key Rules
1. Add -ed to regular verbs: walked, played, worked.
2. Irregular verbs change form entirely: go → went, eat → ate, see → saw.
3. Use did not (didn’t) + base verb for negatives.
4. Use Did + subject + base verb for questions.
